Homilies
The homily is the most ancient form of Christian theological speech—the proclamation of the Word of God to the assembled faithful, rooted in the appointed readings of the day, shaped by the liturgical season, and offered in the hope that what Scripture speaks to one congregation may continue to speak beyond it. The homilies gathered here have been preached in the context of the Church’s worship. They begin where all Christian preaching must begin: with the text as given, received in faith, and broken open with whatever care and attentiveness the preacher has been granted. They are published here not as transcripts but as written works—revised for the page, but faithful to the substance of what was proclaimed.
